About us

Originally founded by the guys behind Linux, we have been doing what we do for industrial OEMs for close to 2 decades now.

The first online vibration and oil monitoring system was developed with VA Cat IV analysts -based on decades of University Research- and is delivered as a white label to Moventas since 2006 to monitor the planetary gearbox, main bearing, and generator in wind turbines.

In 2016, we decided to pivot and develop Condence under a new company name, Distence.

Instead of building this from scratch every time, we decided to design one platform that can be sold as a white label to OEMs and Service Providers, and as a ready-to-implement solution for end-users.

Meanwhile, over 5000 systems have been delivered in more than 40 countries and across various industries.

Our CEO, Janne-Pekka (JP) Karttunen, is actively developing the maintenance 4.0 models with the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS).

Also, JP is a member of the committee for remote services at the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA).

What we do to help

At Distence, we help our clients optimize their operations & maintenance organization and enable precision maintenance for rotating machinery on all criticality levels across the plant.

We do this with the help of our prescriptive maintenance platform, Condence.

The client benefits from an easy and quick workflow to support data-driven decision-making with, e.g., actionable labels attached to alarms and notifications.

With Condence, the machine calls for a doctor when it needs one and confirms its health status when it doesn’t.

And when issues do start to develop, it indicates how long it takes before attention is needed.

How we do this

In short, Condence collects high-quality (near) real-time data from any type of rotating machinery on a component level, with off-the-shelf commercial sensors for vibration, RPM, oil, pressure/flow, temperature, and many more customizable measurements.

This data is automatically analyzed and enveloped on-site in an (edge) terminal with embedded software, and then sent to the cloud via 3G/4G at 5-minute intervals.

Additionally, raw data is sent to the Condence cloud once per day where it remains under the client’s ownership and is accessible for (3^rd party) remote analysts when needed.

There, from any computer, tablet, or smartphone, the data is accessible in a simple to use user interface, and cloud-based tools provide a simple and effective workflow.

For instance, the Trend Revealer feature provides oversight and helps to prioritize tasks, and the Forecast estimates when an issue will most likely become a problem, 3, 6, or even 9 months ahead.

Then, Lubrication Indicator helps our clients grease their machines on a need-based rather than time-based.

Condence easily integrates with 3rd party platforms, IT systems, CMMS, etc., and has a 3rd party hardware and cloud interface.
